A friend of mine recently posted on his website about the upcoming elections and how as a society we have changed so much and really dont pay any attention to the world around us anymore. So for you I would like to post his message as well as my replies to his message. I think he makes an excellent point and his message should be passed along.
Enjoy!!

Protest! By Tweak
In these days of political turmoil and a senseless war, I asked myself a question... What happened to the protest days of the Vietnam War? Yeah, most of the country is against the needless death of thousands, but nobody can act out against it anymore? Have we become that damn lazy or what? So, in the first step of bringing back some balls to the American people, I have here three great protest songs from the sixties. Please check these songs out and if you feel the need for an end to the War in Iraq, please repost or direct people here. Thanx and pray for our soldiers!
Zor and Zam
The king of Zor, he called for war
And the king of Zam, he answered.
They fashioned their weapons one upon one
Ton upon ton, they called for war at the rise of the sun.
Out went the call to one and to all
That echoed and rolled like the thunder.
Trumpets and drums, roar upon roar
More upon more.
Rolling the call of "Come now to war."
Throughout the night they fashioned their might
With right on the side of the mighty.
They puzzled their minds plan upon plan
Man upon man
And at dying of dawn the great war began.
They met on the battlefield banner in hand.
They looked out across the vacant land.
And they counted the missing, one upon one,
None upon none.
The war it was over before it begun.
Two little kings playing a game.
They gave a war and nobody came.
And nobody came.
And nobody came.
And nobody came.
And nobody came.
[repeat and fade]

Here is food for thought josh. I totally agree with you and the protesting thing and there are so many things that i would protest ( i.e. the war, animal crulity, half the idiots that they let out of jail that are convicted murders or sex offenders) I believe there are a few reasons that people dont do the things that the used to.
1) We as a society have become so fast paced and "got to go right now" mentality based that they have made it impossiable for themselves to have time to do something like a protest.
2) They dont pay enough attention to the news, newspapers, or magazines to really give a damn.
3) They hear it and read it but are to lazy to spend time doing something about it.
4) Lazyness again. If there is no way to solve it via phone, or internet. They wont do it.
Just some food for thought. By the way the music rocks.

You know it is actaually really funny that you should post this rant. I was in line at the grocery store about 3 days ago and there was this woman behind me. She had to be in her 40's I would say. Well I had under 20 items and the line for 20 items or less was so long it wasnt even funny. Well it is sunday and I am in no hurry so I go to one of the lines where you can have a bazillion items. I dont care if I have to wait. There was one person in front of me with like 60 items. I mean thier cart was full. No biggy. From 4 isles over this woman starts screaming and cussing at the top of her lungs. She has 18 items and she wants to check out now. There are like 400 hundred people in this store and all possiable check outs are already open. You have to wait. This lady is going on and on and on. So this woman turns to me and says " oh my god why are people in such a hurry" I in return said. "Because we have become such a lazy face paced society that we wanted everything and we want it now." She looked at me and said you must have been raised by a hippy. I kind of laughed because she did have that free spirited still stuck in the 60's 70's look. I said well yeah kinda. She said that is the only way you would be like that is to be raised with someone who has not been mentally programed to go go go. She then started talking about how she was so feed up woth politics she wished she could burn her bra again and picket, but she would probably get arrested for littering, poluting, and obscene public behavior. Which mind you this woman 4 isles over was doing a great job of.
But there are people that still believe in the old ways. They are just few and far between.
